Camping along the Tour de France route | Le Capeyrou, in the heart of the Périgord Noir
On July 11, the Tour de France caravan will pass through Beynac-et-Cazenac—and literally right in front of Le Capeyrou Campground. Nestled along the banks of the Dordogne River, at the foot of one of France’s most beautiful medieval castles, our 3-star campground offers you a prime spot to experience this event right from your campsite. For families, cycling enthusiasts, or simply lovers of the Périgord Noir, this is a rare opportunity to combine a major public celebration with a vacation surrounded by nature.

On July 11, the Tour will pass by your location
That Saturday, the village of Beynac-et-Cazenac turned into an open-air grandstand. The promotional caravan kicked things off, and then the peloton surged forward in a burst of color and speed—a few intense seconds that will remain etched in people’s memories.
What makes this moment special for our guests: the parade passes right in front of the campground. No need to hunt for a good vantage point, park miles away, or jostle through the crowd. You’re already right there, by the side of the road, just steps from your campsite.
We invite you to enjoy this day as it should be enjoyed: a coffee on a sidewalk café, bread ordered the day before at the store, and the kids already lined up along the roadside well before the peloton arrives.

A stay at Le Capeyrou: the Dordogne as your playground
The tour lasts only a moment, but your stay can last a whole week. And the region has plenty to offer every day, without ever getting repetitive.
The Dordogne River flows just a few meters away. Children swim in it, while adults relax and take it all in. From the campground, we organize canoe trips with a local partner: starting from Beynac, you’ll float down the river at the water’s pace, passing between cliffs and castles. A classic experience in the Périgord Noir, for all ages. For cycling enthusiasts, we also offer electric bike rentals, perfect for exploring the valley’s trails without breaking a sweat.

In the evening, settle in on the bar’s terrace—with its wooden frame and Périgord stone—for happy hour. The food truck sets up nearby—serving fish and chips, burgers, and galettes—while the river takes on the colors of the setting sun. There’s also a local farmers’ market every Monday from mid-June to mid-September just a stone’s throw away: fruit, cheese, and local preserves. Outdoor activities, local flavors, and landscapes that stay with you.
